Kirsten has also taught courses on vocal production at the university level, has led voice workshops for actors, and has guided students through vocal and physical warm-ups. She has also served as dialect coach for several professional theatre productions.

Kirsten received her vocal training from Louis Colaianni, a Master Designated Linklater Teacher. She studied with Colaianni at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, where she earned an MFA in Acting. Kirsten studied in New York City with Chuck Jones, one of the leading experts on using the voice to convey character. She has participated in workshops with Lillian Glass, a widely respected authority on the reading of body language and the use of the human voice, and Patsy Rodenburg, head of the vocal department at the Royal National Theatre in London. Alongside her vocal training, Kirsten is a professional voiceover artist. Her voice has been heard in national television commercials, local radio spots, as well as in corporate training videos and audio stories.
